It’s been a while since I posted. But I do have good reasons! Honest! Well, first, my family is in the process of moving to Oklahoma so I’ve trying to take care of details for that. Also, it’s been really hard to get started and into the editing process on the book.
For the longest time, the only chapters I had completed were the Prologue through Chapter 4. Then, my good friends, Steve and Jennie, offered to read and edit each chapter after I had gone through and done my edit. So, that has really helped kick me in the butt!
I guess it might be apparent to some of you that I need a deadline to accomplish anything. Which, I think, is why I excelled at my most recent professional position in a county library system’s community relations department because it was/is chock-full of deadlines. That is probably why I was called to writing, because in the writing business you operate under deadlines all the time.
Anyway, I will try to post here much more often.
An update on the publishing side of things I have submitted several of my poems to a couple of literary journals and am waiting to hear back. I also submitted a story to two different publications but, as I completely missed the ban on simultaneous submissions for BOTH of these magazines, the story was rejected. Duh! I can be such a goob sometimes. But, let that be a lesson to the rest of you aspiring writers – read submission guidelines with a fine tooth comb. Furthermore, you should make a spreadsheet of all the places you submit with their guidelines included so you can keep them straight. I am going to try and submit the story again – to just one of those magazines and see if they will give me a second chance. I’ll keep you posted!
